18 August 2022
Here are a few highlights from the past month when people came together to make new friends and enjoy time away from the challenges or isolation of everyday life.
Members met at Cannons Tandoori (Whitchurch Lane, Edgeware) on 22 July for lunch, following a walk around Canons Park. There was an opportunity to talk about topical issues with Bob Blackman, who is the MP for Harrow East.
An excellent lunch with music and chat was enjoyed at Northwood Methodist Church on 29 July as People ConneX members came together for an afternoon of board games and cards.
On 30 July, a coffee morning held at Fairfield Church was a tremendous success with 2 new volunteers joining the People ConneX team. The event, which included a performance from Barbara’s People ConneX Choir, was enjoyed by 37 people.
A People ConneX regular Tuesday get-together at St John’s Church on Sheepcote Road included a slideshow on 2 August along with lunch and refreshments.
Cllr Ghazanfar Ali was the lunch guest at The Waters Edge Carvery in Ruislip on 4 August. He reflected on his year as Harrow’s mayor from 2021 to 2022 during which time he helped to raise funds for Community ConneX.
None of the above events could have taken place without the help of volunteers. We’d like to thank all the people who organise, collect, make and serve refreshments and meals. We are also grateful to team members who clean up afterwards at the venues that are provided for us.
Your donation could bring someone out of social isolation, help support autistic people, people with a learning disability, and their families. We also use your donations to provide disadvantaged children and young person with opportunities to develop themselves and grow. Please click here to donate
