Harrow Mayor praises Community ConneX during Islamophobia Awareness Month

22 November 2021

Harrow Mayor, Cllr Ghazanfar Ali has praised Community ConneX for supporting Harrow’s Muslim citizens as well as the wider community. Cllr Ali made the comments during Islamophobia Awareness Month which takes place in November, to highlight our organisation’s efforts to offer an inclusive, welcoming and empowering environment for both clients and staff of all backgrounds, all faiths and none.

The Mayor said:

“In my time as a local councillor and as Mayor of Harrow, I have worked with and supported Community ConneX, formerly Harrow Mencap, for a number of years. As an active member of Harrow’s vibrant Muslim community, I have also seen how this wonderful charity has provided much needed assistance to local Muslim people with learning disabilities and their families, as well as the wider community.

In addition Community ConneX is firmly committed to supporting and empowering its diverse workforce, making it an inclusive and welcoming place for many people among whom there are numerous Muslims. I am proud to support Community ConneX throughout my term as one of my Mayor’s Charities.”

Here at Community ConneX, we are deeply grateful for all the help we receive from the community in Harrow, including generous donations from the congregation at Harrow Central Mosque, who hold regular collections for us each year.

We are proud to work together with local communities in and around West London to make these areas better, happier and more inclusive places to live for all residents.
